With the new advances in camera technology, it is now possible to put cameras on the network, and therefore store the footage on a server, which can be viewed on the web from anywhere in the world. You can even set the software up so that it emails you a picture when it detects motion, and includes a link so that you can pull the camera up real time in your web browser and watch what's going on. You can even go back and view archived video from the web page. Of course, you can set user levels and permissions for the cameras, from view only, to allow pan and tilt, and who can go back and view archived video. You can even link the cameras to other automation events...like turning on a light when motion is detected, or have a camera move to a preset position if a light comes on or if a door is opened.
